Ruben Childs and his wife Mariguax are a hardworking couple from South Minneapolis, they are striving to build a better, more stable future for their children and their community. In 2013, Ruben started a small business called Turnover Commercial Cleaning Services which picks up used appliances, furniture and junk for sorting and recycling.
When Ruben’s only business vehicle needed repairs, MCCD (the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers) nominated Ruben for a Microgrant. Since making the necessary repairs to their business truck, the company has been successful with a 67% increase over the prior 12 months.
MicroGrants grantmaking is currently paused as we work through internal operations and determine next steps for the program.
For our partner agencies: We will continue to share updates directly with you as more information becomes available.
For individuals seeking a grant: MicroGrants does not distribute grants directly to individuals. Our grants are distributed through nonprofit partner agencies that identify and support eligible recipients. If you are seeking financial assistance, we recommend contacting one of our partner agencies directly to learn about available resources and eligibility.
