Reeka came to MicroGrants through the Black Women’s Wealth Alliance. She learned how to sew and used her grant to purchase a sewing machine. She now makes and sells bonnets that Black women use to protect their hair at night. This business allows her to make extra income for her and her son. Reeka said,
“This micro grant really allowed me to soar… I bought my first sewing machine and then things just took off from there.”
