Barbara came to MicroGrants via the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers. She says,
“I used the grant money for paying for the intensive course that I needed to be eligible to take my national board certification exam, and then I also used it to pay for that exam . . . I am working toward opening my business and launching it . . . and getting off Social Security Disability [Insurance], housing support, food support, all of that . . . It may not seem like a huge thing to take this six-week course and get this test taken, but, for me, it meant whether or not I had my career.”
